Hey girls! I know that you don't want to let "that time of month" hold you back from doing what you want, so period protection is very important. And it's a total drag when you buy a new product just to find that it leaks, is uncomfortable, or just plain icky. Total waste, right? Well, this post (and many more will follow!) will give you what I thought about a product, so you can be an informed consumer and hopefully save a few bucks and find something that works for you. :) However, these are only my opinions, and everyone is different.
Despite the name, these pads actually are very absorbent. (Surprising. You'd think they weren't from the name!) Always specifically designed these pads to meet the needs of us gals who just happen to be a tad smaller. They come in packs of 18 or 36, in a dark green package. The pads are individually wrapped in pink wrappers. The pads are white with green designs, a soft top sheet with a "Dry-Weave" design, plastic adhesive bottom sheet (as always!), wings, and a green, foam-like core. (The technical name for all these features are on the package.)
The pads are meant to absorb light to moderate flow, but I discovered that they are surprisingly strong and absorbent. I absolutely adore how thin they are, which makes them really comfortable, and the top sheet is soft and comfortable. I forget that I'm even wearing a pad! I was wearing one of these on my heavy days, and I had no leaks whatsoever. This was very impressive because these pads were only meant to handle light to moderate flow. The wings held the pad in place nicely, they didn't move a bit. Also, the thin plastic sheet on the bottom caught any leaks that could have occurred. Also, I noticed that the distribution is even compared to some other pads.
There is only one major thing I don't like about Always Ultra Thin Slender pads, and that is the speed at which it absorbs. The pad didn't absorb quite as fast as I would have liked it to, so for a few minutes before it absorbs, I felt like I was sitting in an icky mess. However, after it absorbed, it was absolute perfection. Also, the pink wrapper is kinda audible when being handled, but that depends on personal preference. Some slight creasing occurred, but the pad bounced back into place.
So overall, I love this pad. I have used many pads (too many to keep track!), but this is the pad that I keep turning back to because I have NEVER had a leak with it, it absorbs a lot, is really thin and comfortable, and it stays in place nicely (which is a huge plus since I am an athlete). On a scale of zero to ten, this gets a well-deserved 9.
