Ultimate Relaxing Night Recipe

Urgh, it's that time of month again. That's why a little extra pampering couldn't hurt. In fact, it might help. So get out that loofah and make arrangements to take the night off because it's now time for:

The Ultimate Relaxing Night

The Bubble Bath:
What you need: At least 40 minutes to hog the bathroom without interruptions, your favorite bubble bath, epsom salt, towels, cucumber slices, a cup of chamomile tea, background music, floating flowers (optional), lavender essential oil (optional).

1. First, start by filling the tub about 3/4 full with hot water (helps with period cramps), and while the water is still flowing, pour the bubble bath under the faucet to make bubbles. Toss in a handful of epsom salt (to reduce soreness), and if you choose, put in a few drops of lavender essential oil (calming effects), and a few floating flower heads for that extra spa-like feeling.

2. Roll up a towel as a pillow, and set a few aside.

3. Have a cup of hot tea nearby so you can sip while you soak.

4. Turn on some background music to set the atmosphere.

5. Now for the fun part! Sit back, resting your head on the towel, and lay the cucumber slices across you eyes for 10 to 15 minutes to relax them.

6. When you're done, clean up, and move on to:

The Simple Facial:
What you'll need: Small hand towel, your favorite fruit mask, lotion, hairband.

1. Tie back your hair with the hairband/headband. It won't be fun to clean the mask out of your hair!

2. Using hot water, wet the small hand towel, and lay it across your face for a few minutes. This will open up your pores.

3. Apply your favorite fruit mask (suited to your skin type), and massage your face in small circular motions for three minutes.

4. Let the mask sit for ten minutes.

5. Using lukewarm water, rinse the mask off of your face, and dry your face.

6. To finish, apply a light layer of your favorite lotion to hydrate and protect your skin, and move on to:

The Manicure or Pedicure:
What you'll need: Your favorite nail polish, nail clippers, nail file, nail brush, hand lotion (optional), nail adornments (optional).

1. First, wash your hands with warm water, and use the nail brush to gently clean under your nails. If you'd like, massage your hands and/or feet for extra pampering. Rinse the brush, and dry your hands.

2. Use the nail clippers to trim your nails to the desired shape if needed.

3. File the edges of your nails to smooth them. Never file up and down, because it does more damage than good. The cuticle of your nails are made of layers, so filing up and down will separate these layers and make your nails weak. Instead, file side to side at a 45 degree angle.

4. Apply polish to your nails. For extra protection and lasting shine, a glossy top coat helps. Now for:

The Movie:
What you'll need: Your favorite movie, healthy movie snacks, pillows, blankets, cuddly pet, cup your favorite cold drink (non-alcoholic!)

1. Stick in your favorite movie, sit back, and relax!

Warning: While it says your favorite movie, be wary of horror or other high intensity movies. These may undo all the relaxation you have worked for thus far, and make you too jittery to fall asleep soundly. While romantic comedies and comedies are preferred, you can watch scary movies but at your own discretion.

The Good Night's Sleep:
What you'll need: Comfy pillows, comfy mattress, comfy blankets, comfy sheets, comfy comforters, a cup of water, music (optional), lavender essential oil (optional).

1. Adjust your bed and bedding to your preferences for maximum comfort.

2. Have a cup of water nearby just incase you get thirsty.

3. If music helps you fall asleep, play it, but at a low volume.

4. If you need to be more calm, a few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow and help.

5. Settle down, and have a good night's sleep to feel even better and invigorated tomorrow!

And that is the recipe for the Ultimate Relaxing Night for some well-deserved pampering on your period! Enjoy!
